And So It Goes
Israel is still carrying out a genocide unchecked with the help of our tax dollars. For me, this was the straw that broke the camel's back. I will never participate in the two-party system again without radical changes (campaign finance reform for starters). Don't want right-wing extremists in power? Me either. So, don't vote for so-called leftists who fund and support them. Netenyahu is exactly that. And Biden standing by his side is what? A democrat? Count me out of the democratic party then. This is why people say the left has no spine. It's true. We're just as drunk on capitalist imperialism as our counterparts on the right. Oh, our social values are more enlightened? Wonderful, truly. Meanwhile, tens of thousands of children, women, and men (civilian) are being blown in half with our help. Maybe Trump is the more pronounced symptom we need to actually wake up and find some conviction in order to cultivate the better country and world we claim to want. The hard reality is that we want the comfort of the status quo more. We don't actually care. Or do we? Are we okay with any leader/party, left or right, backing this? Where do our convictions begin and end? I mean they're always a fuzzy thing. We're never going to have a perfect world. But, sometimes some seriously horrific things are just staring you right in the face, plain as day — and what are we returning? Blank stares? If we're willing to let others be devastated like Gaza, do we deserve the safety of such severely selective and inconsistent morality vs the slightly more reckless alternative?
